EXCLUSIVE: Why Nollywood actress Uche Iwuji's husband dumped her after 15months of marriage

Uche Iwuji has been celebrating her
separation from her husband Juwon
Lawal all-over social media.. However
Encomium magazine claims the reason
for the break-up was infidelity on her
part..,
"On Friday, November 16, 2012, when the
estranged couple said ‘I do’ to each
other, little did they know that the boat
of their romance would capsize so soon.
But to the surprise of many within and
outside the industry, months after,
rumour mills were agog that the hitherto
Romeo and Juliet had gone their
separate ways on account of infidelity on
the side of Iwuji, linking her to a bank
MD.
According to an industry source, the real
reason the relationship went sour was
largely due to the alleged romance
between Iwuji and the top banker.
“I learnt that when Juwon got a wind of
the rumour of his wife’s romance with
her banker lover, he couldn’t believe it
because just last year, he bought a car
worth N4m for her. So, what’s her
problem? But when the guy returned
from Europe, he found a lot of dirty and
implicating text messages of the man in
Iwuji’s mobile phone. I learnt all
explanations by Iwuji fell on Juwon’s
deaf ears. He just decided to call it quits
with her.”

Missing oil funds: NNPC returns N7.61billion out of N3 trillion to federation account

Following a series of back and forth
arguments about how much money is
being owed to the nation’s federation
account by the Nigerian National
petroleum Corporation (NNPC), the latter
is said to have returned a sum of N7.16
billion to the said account.
The allegations of misconduct were first
levelled against the NNPC last year by
the Governor of the Central Bank, Sanusi
Lamido Sanusi.
Since then the sum in question has been
varied from an initial $49. 8 billion to a
very recently stated $20 billion.
The Tribune reports:
The Accountant-General of the
Federation, Mr Jonah Ogunniyi Otunla,
who presided over the February meeting
of the Federation Account Allocation
Committee (FAAC), following the exit of
Minister of State for Finance, Dr Lawan
Yerima Ngama, from the cabinet, said the
N7.61 billion was part of the debt owed
the federation by the NNPC.
He said the returned debt was part of the
N629.12 billion shared among the three
tiers of
government as allocations for January.
According to Mr Otunla, the shared
amount represented proceeds from
statutory allocation, N503.68 billion;
value added tax, N82.27 billion; Subsidy
Re-investment and Empowerment
Programme, N35.54 billion and the NNPC
refund of N7.61 billion
Out of the statutory allocation, the
Federal Government, after deducting the
cost of collection of N5.24 billion for the
Nigeria Customs Service and the Federal
Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), got
N235.02 billion, about 52.68 per cent;
the 36 states, N119.20 billion or 26.72
per cent; while the local governments got
N91.9 billion or 20.6 per cent.
Similarly, the oil producing states
received N52.30 billion, based on the 13
per cent derivation principle.
Otunla said the country recorded an
increase of N60.92 billion in gross
revenue, from N479.95 billion received in
December to N540.87 billion in January.
“The gross revenue of N540.87 billion
received for the month was higher than
the N479.95 billion received in the
previous month by N60.92 billion,
regardless of the disruptions in
production and lifting operations that
were witnessed in the month under
review, due to maintenance, multiple
leaks, pipeline breaks and theft,” Otunla
stated

Opinion: Justin Bieber ? First a star, then a child

It is indeed a high price to pay for full
grown adults, talk more a teenager/
young adult. Justin has virtually grown
up before our very eyes; from the time of
the release of his ‘Baby’ single, the ‘My
World 2.0′ album and his other releases
Once again, Justin Bieber is in the news
for all the wrong reasons. In January
2014 alone, he has allegedly thrown eggs
at his neighbour’s house, been arrested
for drunk driving and substance use in
Miami and released on bail for $2,500
and been charged with assaulting a limo
driver during an altercation outside a
club in Toronto on the 29th of December
2013. More recently, photos of him
allegedly biting on a stripper’s nipple
with a pal of his have been circulated all
over the internet,as well as a petition of
over 100,000 signatures requesting his
deportation back to his native Canada
from the US.
This comes on the heels of a tumultuous
2013 that saw a nasty break-up with his
heartthrob, Selena Gomez, a purported
retirement and very many heartbreaking
stories about one of the most popular
celebrities on planet earth; in spite of his
being just 19 (he has more twitter
followers than some countries have
humans in
them).
19!!!!!
It makes one wonder at the cost of fame
and being in the public eye, almost all of
the time. It is indeed a high price to pay
for full grown adults, talk more a
teenager/young adult. Justin has
virtually grown up before our very eyes;
from the time of the release of his ‘Baby’
single, the ‘My World 2.0′ album and his
other releases. He lost his husky voice
before us, changed the popular ‘Justin
locks’ before us, dated Selena Gomez
before us and virtually everything else.
Same thing went for the Miley Cyrus’,
Demi Lovato’s, Lindsay Lohan’s,
Macaulay Caulkin’s, Britney Spears’,
Drew Barrymore’s (thankfully, she
overcame hers) and even Michael
Jackson’s of this world.
Only very few child stars are relatively
unscathed by the price they have to pay
for fame. Living in the public eye must
be nerve wracking. I am an ordinary
citizen and I get irritated sometimes with
certain intrusions on my privacy; I
therefore can not begin to fathom how
I’d react to my every move being
documented or photographed. In the
case of the child star in the US, its made
worse by the fact that, they are first
treated as ‘Celebrities’ before they are
treated as children. Their guardians tend
to get carried away with the monies their
wards are raking in and treat them like
cash cows/investments. Most parents/
guardians even encourage their underage
‘celeb’ wards/children to party, take
drugs and have sex; inasmuch as the
dollars roll in, they are fine.
I mentioned the US in particular for the
reasons that their entertainment scene is
the most easily accessed the world over;
thus their misdemeanours are a lot more
publicized. I also came across an
interview that was given by Daniel
Radcliffe (who reprised the role of Harry
Potter in the movie series from J. K.
Rowlings books) when he came to New
York to perform the play ‘Equus’ on
Broadway in 2008/2009. When he was
asked the difference between his celebrity
status in the US and back home in the
United Kingdom, he replied, “here in the
US, I am treated as a star first, then a
child; in the UK, I am first a child, before
a star”.
After a while, these young persons start
finding a way to cope with all of the
external and internal pressures by acting
out one way or another. If my
Psychology books are to be believed,
these their untoward actions (like
Justin’s) begin as ‘Defence mechanisms’;
before graduating to become patterns
and habits. A lot of these ugly headlines
and shenanigans can be avoided if like
Daniel said, child celebrities are taken in
hand and treated like children; before the
celebrity status is thrust upon their ‘too
young shoulders’.
Of course, these are just my 2 cents; I’d
love to hear yours below….. Ciao!!!

Alicia Keys And Swizz Beatz Expecting baby number 2

Award winning singer Alicia Keys and
Producer husband Swizz Beatz might be
expecting a second kid after she
allegedly showed off a bump during The
Beatles' 50th Anniversary concert, where
she performed 'Let It Be' with John
Legend.
The 33-year-old singer first and only
child is 3-year-old son, Egypt Dauod
Dean but when media mogul Wendy
Williams asked her last year if she would
like another she said: "I definitely want
more kids... I would like to wait at least
two years," she said. "I do actually want
more children and sometimes I think it
does feel like, 'Oh man, what if I could
just spend every waking minute with
Egypt,' Of course I would love to."
Meanwhile, fans have already taken to
Twitter to speculate if the Grammy-
award winning singer is expecting.
Keys, a close friend of Jay Z and
Beyonce also revealed last year that
Egypt and the couple's two-year-old
daughter, Blue Ivy plays together.
"Egypt kissed Blue, and I don't think Jay
liked it very much. He called my husband
and he was like, 'Watch your son," she
said.
On the music scene, Keys recently won a
2014 Grammy for Best R&B Album

17 year old serial child rapist and homosexual claims he has been having sex with his mother in Ebonyi State (PHOTO)

The NSCDC in Ebonyi State on Tuesday,
paraded the serial rapist and homosexual
Chibuike Maduka, 17, at Ndibe in Afikpo
North Local Government Area of Ebonyi
State who allegedly derives fun in raping
young children of different parents in his
community.He began raping young
children since 2008
The suspect who blamed his strange
sexual escapades on his mother,
confessed to have had sexual intercourse
with her (mother) on several occasions.
He claimed that he doesn't know what
usually induces him to have sex with
children in the area.
According to the suspect,
“I’m here because of my mother; she
used me for ritual. I don’t know what
I’m doing. If I see a little child I will
rape her; this act started in 2008; it is
not my fault but that of my mother. I
have raped my mother and four
children.
My father is late. I don’t know myself
again. I had homosexual activities
with one Emmanuel three times at
Amangu in Afikpo North local
government area“
Reacting, the mother of the suspect, Mrs.
Idam Augustina Josephine, 45, denied
having any sexual involvement with his
son insisting that he doesn’t know what
was happening to his son.
”I am 45 years and the mother of
Chibuike Maduka; how can I teach my
child to rape little children? I’m here
because my son raped some children;
he is telling a lie, he never had any
sexual relationship with me”.
One of the mothers of the victim (names
withheld) who regretted the development
said medical examination had been
carried out on her daughter after she
discovered some strange reactions from
the victim’s private parts.According her,
the daughter had contacted sexually
transmitted disease from the suspect.
She said:
“I am not happy with this act
exhibited by this boy; I usually drop
my child at school and then go to
work; I really don’t know how it all
happened.”

"MC Loph was not my friend, we just did a song together" - Flavour

You know after MC Loph died, several
reports claimed his mum(now late) was
disappointed in Flavour for never visiting
or calling her. It was also reported that
MC Loph was the one who housed
Flavour when he first came to
Lagos. After his passing, Flavour sang a
tribute in his honour ...Here is what
Flavour said in an interview with Punch
"MC Loph and I weren’t as close as
people thought. I met Loph through
Mr. Raw when I came to Lagos. He
wanted me to produce for him the
same way I was producing for Mr.
Raw. Somehow, we came together
and we did the Osondi Owendi song.
We later found out that we came from
the same village.I played a very big
part in the song. People would always
want me to perform the song. But I
couldn’t. What is the essence of
collaborating when you cannot play
the song? It didn’t make any sense.
He said people told him I was
performing his song. I felt, ‘oh, it is
now your song?’ That was the last
time we really spoke to each other. I
decided to ‘free’ him.Yes. .........
We were not friends at all. We just did
a song together. People just had a
misconception about the whole thing.
I never told anybody this before and I
still insist it is not something we
should talk about.
I met his mother just once in my life.
We went for a show at Nnewi
(Anambra State) and we passed
through our village. He got down to
see his mother and I followed him. I
greeted her and I gave her money that
day. She was very happy. We left. I
was surprised when people started
saying I abandoned his mother when
he died. It is not fair to talk about
this since he is no more. But then, I
feel it is time I became honest and
open up because people have said a
lot of things about me. It is not fair.
He never greeted my father one day,
let alone visiting him. But I couldn’t
confront him because of that. I felt he
didn’t have any business with my
father. He could choose to greet him
or not. We were not related, we just
came from the same village."

Nollywood actress, Liz Benson who

D’ banj Paid $ 40 K To Lie On Real Housewives Of Atlanta As Kenya Moore’ s Boyfriend

Nigerian singer Dapo Oyebanjo aka Dbanj has
been hired to star on a popular American show.
Real Housewives of Atlanta star, Kenya Moore
who travelled to Nigeria for valentine last week
has employed D’banj to feature on the popular
reality TV show as her boyfriend.
According to MTO sources, Kokomaster will be
paid 40 thousand dollars to feature on the show.
To get the money, D’banj will have to pretend as
Kenya Moore’s African Prince.
This is how MediaTakeOut is reporting it:
We just received some extra steaming hot tea
surrounding Kenya, and the upcoming Real
Housewives reality show.
We spoke exclusively to a Bravo insider that
told us that Bravo has just set up taping for the
reunion everyone is scheduled to attend, each
lady and their husband.
And we’re told that while Porsha does not
have a guest/husband, Kenya Moores will be
bringing a guest. Word is she wants to help
secure her spot for another season so she has in
fact hired an African prince.
According to another person close to Kenya,
she has contracted to bring in Nigerian singer
D’Banj to the reunion. And by “contracted” we
mean a business deal . . . she has hired him to
pretend to be her boyfriend. D’Banj is a popular
singer in Nigeria, and he and Kenya have done
appearances together before – but they are not in
any kind of relationship . . . and he did not buy
her any type of car.
In addition to the 40K, Kenya Moore promised to
promote Dbanj to her American audience if the
contract becomes successful.

Ifafunmike : Seun Kuti Under Fire For Naming Daughter After The gods

Controversial singer Seun Kuti, the son of late
Fela is under fire for naming his newborn baby
daughter, Ifafunmike.
Seun and his girlfriend, Yetunde who welcomed
their first daughter on the 14th of December 2013
named her Oyindamola Ifafunmike Adara
Anikulapo Kuti at their Ikeja home on Saturday
the 8th of Feb, 2014.
Apparently, the name Ifafunmike which means the
gods have put her in my care, didn’t go down well
with his fans who condemned him for walking in
his father’s traditional belief.
According to them, Seun should dump his recent
belief for Christianity.
Meanwhile, despite the criticism, few are proud of
him for naming his daughter with local Yoruba
names as against the likes of Tuface, P-Square,
Kaffy, Julius Agwu and the rest who gave their
children foreign names.

Today Motivational Moment: Every Success Story Also Has A Story Of Big Failure

I came across this today and I decided
to post it as today motivational moment
for KZB reader to read and
meditate on.
Read it below....
Failure is the highway to success.
Tom Watson Sr. said, "If you
want to succeed, double your
failure rate." If you study
history, you will find that all
stories of success are also stories
of great failures. But people
don't see the failures. They only
see one side of the picture and
they say that person got lucky:
"He must have been at the right
place at the right time."
Let me share someone's life
history with you. This was a man
who failed in business at the age
of 21 ; was defeated in a
legislative race at age 22; failed
again in business at age 24;
overcame the death of his
sweetheart at age 26; had a
nervous breakdown at age 27;
lost a congressional race at age
34; lost a senatorial race at age
45; failed in an effort to become
vice-president at age 47; lost a
senatorial race at age 49; and
was elected president of the
United States at age 52.
This man was Abraham Lincoln.
Would you call him a failure? He
could have quit. But to Lincoln,
defeat was a detour and not a
dead end.
In 1913, Lee De Forest, inventor
of the triodes tube, was charged
by the district attorney for using
fraudulent means to mislead the
public into buying stocks of his
company by claiming that he
could transmit the human voice
across the Atlantic. He was
publicly humiliated. Can you
imagine where we would be
without his invention?
A New York Times editorial on
December 10, 1903, questioned
the wisdom of the Wright
Brothers who were trying to
invent a machine, heavier than
air that would fly. One week
later, at Kitty Hawk, the Wright
Brothers took their famous
flight.
Colonel Sanders, at age 65, with
a beat-up car and a $100 check
from Social Security, realized he
had to do something. He
remembered his mother's recipe
and went out selling. How many
doors did he have to knock on
before he got his first order? It is
estimated that he had knocked
on more than a thousand doors
before he got his first order.
How many of us quit after three
tries, ten tries, a hundred tries,
and then we say we tried as
hard as we could?
As a young cartoonist, Walt
Disney faced many rejections
from newspaper editors, who
said he had no talent. One day a
minister at a church hired him
to draw some cartoons. Disney
was working out of a small
mouse infested shed near the
church. After seeing a small
mouse, he was inspired. That
was the start of Mickey Mouse.
Successful people don't do great
things; they only do small things in
a great way.
One day a partially deaf four
year old kid came home with a
note in his pocket from his
teacher, "Your Tommy is too
stupid to learn, get him out of
the school." His mother read the
note and answered, "My Tommy
is not stupid to learn, I will teach
him myself." And that Tommy
grew up to be the great Thomas
Edison. Thomas Edison had only
three months of formal schooling
and he was partially deaf.
Henry Ford forgot to put the
reverse gear in the first car he
made.
Do you consider these people
failures? They succeeded in spite
of problems, not in the absence of
them. But to the outside world, it
appears as though they just got
lucky.
All success stories are stories of
great failures. The only
difference is that every time they
failed, they bounced back. This
is called failing forward, rather
than backward. You learn and
move forward. Learn from your
failure and keep moving.
Below are more examples of the
failures of successful people:
1. Thomas Edison failed
approximately 10,000 times
while he was working on the
light bulb.
2. Henry Ford was broke at the
age of 40.
3. Lee Iacocca was fired by
Henry Ford II at the age of 54.
4. Young Beethoven was told that
he had no talent for music, but
he gave some of the best music to
the world.
Please share your opinion….. All is well

Tenant Kills Cobra Snake Found In Toilet Bowl, Secret Cult Landlord Dies Next Day

This is the testimony of a man who escaped
death in his toilet a while back.
The man moved from a 1 bedroom apartment to a
flat not knowing his new landlord is a secret cult
member.
The occultic landlord specializes in causing
miscarriages for his tenants wives, causing
business problems for tenants and killing tenants
family through snakes bites and car accidents.
But this young christian family moved in and
behold in the midnight after prayer, the man of
the house tried to use the toilet.
On getting to the toilet, alas! there was a huge
cobra snake waiting to bite him in the toilet bowl.
He shouted and started praying before they
eventually killed it and burnt it to ashes. The next
day the landlord died in his flat from machete
cuts and traces of fire burns on his skin.
Is this a coincidence or not?

Fraudsters Arrested For Trying To Withdraw N 45M From Senator David Mark’ s Bank Account

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission
today, February 5, 2014 told an Abuja High Court
presided over by Justice S. E Aladedoyinbo how
the trio of Emeka Ukor, Anthony Uzonwanne and
Babayemi Bukola conspired and forged the
signature of the Senate President, Senator David
Mark, in an attempt to fraudulently withdraw the
sum of N45 million from his bank account.
The accused persons are being prosecuted by the
EFCC on a seven count charge bordering on
conspiracy and forgery.
At the resumed hearing of the case today,
prosecution witness Benedict Agweye who was
lead in evidence by counsel to EFCC, Shata
Jamila told the court that the FinBank cheque
with which the accused persons attempted to pull
out money from Senator Mark’s account was
forged. Agweye said he came to this conclusion
after carrying out series of forensic analyses on
the document.
He disclosed that on receipt of the forged FinBank
(now FCMB) cheque and the specimen of the
genuine cheque, he commenced detailed analysis,
including simulation of the signatures to be able
to identify the existing characteristics in the
disputed signature and the signature of the
original owner of the bank account. Secondly, he
said a stereomicroscopic analysis was conducted
on the documents in order to identify all of the
microscopic characteristics in the signatures not
normally observable with the naked eye.
He went further to tell the court that a spectral
analysis was also carried out on the documents
using the foster and freeman VSC 5000. This,
according to him, was done to enable side-by-
side comparison of the documents under
magnification and to also identify areas of
obliteration and alteration in the disputed FinBank
cheque and the known specimen.
The result of these analyses Agweye said,
revealed that the author of the known specimen
signature was not the author of the disputed
FinBank cheque leaflet.
The case has been adjourned to March 10, 2014
for continuation of hearing.
Emeka, Anthony and Babayemi were arrested
sequel to a complaint from the Senate President
that the accused persons conspired and forged a
cheque leaflet allegedly belonging to FinBank
dated August 28, 2009 in an attempt to
fraudulently withdraw the sum of N45m (forty five
million naira) from his account.
Count two of the charge reads, “That you Emeka
Ukor, Anthony Uzonwanne and Babayemi Bukola,
on or about the 5th October, 2009 within the
jurisdiction of the High Court of the Federal
Capital Territory fraudulently moved a FinBank of
Nigeria Plc cheque No. 00684074 dated 28th
August, 2009 drawn in favour of Aeromagnetic
Fishers Limited on the account of Honourable
Brigadier General David Mark (rtd) in the sum of
N45,000,000.00 (Forty Five Million Naira) with the
intention of taking the said cheque dishonestly
out of possession of the said Honourable
Brigadier General David Mark (rtd), and thereby
committed an offence contrary to section 286 (1)
of the Penal Code Act cap.532 Laws of the
Federation of Nigeria (Abuja) 1990 and punishable
under section 287 of the same Act”.

Nigerian Air Force Fighter Jet Air Strikes Boko Haram Camps

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) said yesterday that
it has intensified counter-insurgency offensive
against Boko Haram around the border areas,
destroying some camps in a sustained aerial
bombardment. Group Public Relations Officer for
the 79 Composite Group of the NAF, Squadron
Leader Chris Erondu, said the insurgents were
retreating to neighbouring Cameroon, Niger, and
Chad Republic. He said ongoing bombardment
against the insurgents have recorded remarkable
success with heavy casualties in the enemies’
camp.
In a statement released in Maiduguri, he said:
“The results of these air operations have been
remarkable as the insurgents who have been
retreating to Cameroon, Chad and Niger Republics
have suffered heavy causalities.”
He said the Composite Group in Maiduguri in
conjunction with 75 Strike Group, Yola, had been
providing air supports to the other sister security
agencies in the state.
Erondu disclosed that air surveillance and
eventual raids were carried out by troops on
identified Boko Haram hide-outs at Bulabulin
Yujiwa-Alagarno, around Damboa axis in the
state. He said the Air Force and other security
agencies were maintaining constant surveillance
on Maiduguri metropolis and its environs
especially with last year’s attack on its base by
the insurgents.
He appealed to the residents to continue to co-
operate with the security agencies in the state by
providing information that could lead to
identifying Boko Haram camps.

How Foreign Investors Are Treating Nigerians Like Slaves In Their Own Country

The level of violence meted out by expatriate
business people in Nigeria to their staff has
become worrisome and needs urgent government
intervention.
Recently, 40-year old Adeleke Owolabi, a newly
recruited marketer of a PVC-producing Chinese
firm based in Sagamu, Ogun State, western
Nigeria was brutalised by his Chinese boss, Mike
Jackson, and his cousin, Tony Jackson for a
flimsy offence.
The graduate of Mass Communication from
Olabisi Onabanjo University was supposed to
travel to Kano with the goods for sale and until
4pm, his boss continued to give excuses thus
delaying him. An attempt to make Mike realise
that travelling at night could be risky earned the
father of two a kick in his private part and a slap
while Tony smashed a bottle on his head. They
both beat him up until he fainted.
On 12 December, 2013, 34-year-old Mrs.
Alexandra Ossai, a Supervisor with a Lebanese-
owned firm, Toppan Printing Company in Lagos,
lost her seven-month old pregnancy and suffered
serious complication after her Lebanese boss,
Kaveh Noine, kicked her violently in the stomach.
She had to undergo a surgery to save her life as
the placenta was damaged.
According to the woman who said she had been
slapped many times before, anytime Noine was
annoyed, he would beat the staff that provoked
him. Sometimes, he would throw whatever he can
lay his hands on at the person.
Sometime ago, Maaji Meriga, a 62-year old
casual worker with the China Civil Engineering
Construction Corporation, CCECC, working to
construct railway tracks in Abuja, Nigeria’s
capital, lost his testicles after allegedly receiving
slaps and a kick on his private part by the
company’s transport manager, Marcho Chin,
popularly called ‘old soldier.’
Many more of such inhuman treatment against
Nigerians by foreigners who come into the
country, many without valid documents abound in
almost all companies owned by them.
These companies often pay their casual staff
peanuts as salaries and wages and leave the staff
prone to accidents many of which are bloody and
the victims are maimed for life. This is aside
cases of rape against some of the women who
work with them abound.
It is even more frustrating to hear the victims
complain of inability to secure justice from either
the Nigerian Police or any other agency that could
assist as they must have soiled their hands with
bribes from these foreigners.
The Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, and the
Trade Union Congress, TUC, are two bodies that
have also failed in the fight to ensure proper work
environments for the Nigerian workers in
companies owned by foreigners in the country.
Many times, they have been accused of only
visiting the companies to line their pockets by
these aliens, some of whom are prisoners sent to
Nigeria by their countries to complete their jail
terms.
We call on all relevant government authorities,
including the National Assembly, to ensure that
Nigerians in these firms are not treated like slaves
in their own country.
There must be serious sanctions against
foreigners who treating Nigerians like animals.

Boko Haram Latest Attacks In Yobe , Plateau & Kaduna States Kill 82

The past 48 hours has been bloody in the
Northern party of Nigeria.
No fewer than 82 people were killed in three
attacks on Monday and yesterday in Plateau,
Kaduna and Yobe states.
Twenty people, including a policeman, were killed
by bandits in Yobe State; 32 were killed by
gunmen in Plateau and 30 in Kaduna.
On Monday night, gunmen killed 18 traders in a
market in Yobe State.
A lecturer with the College of Agriculture, Gujba,
who was returning from Ashaka, Gombe State,
was shot dead by fleeing gunmen at Buni Gari.
Commissioner of Police Sanusi Rufai said the 18
traders were killed by armed bandits in two
villages in Gulani Local Government Area.
The Yobe police chief said: “The traders were
ambushed by the bandits while travelling back
from Ngalda local market, a border town with
Gombe State.
“The bandits attacked and killed 18 traders, 10
from Kukuwa and eight from Dokshi village. They
took away their money, which ran into millions of
naira.”
The bandits, Rufai said, were masked and
dressed in military uniform.
Rufai explained that the attackers also ran into a
quarry plant and attacked policemen attached to
the plant, killing one policeman.
He said no arrest had been made.
He added: “Joint Task Force (JTF) and police are
now combing the bush and security agents across
the state are on the red alert.”
The commissioner expressed regret that “bandits
are now parading themselves as Boko Haram to
wreak havoc on innocent people and inject fears
in them.”
The Yobe State Council of Chiefs condemned the
attack.
In a communique issued at the end of its seventh
Council meeting held in Damaturu, the monarchs
praised security agents for restoring peace in the
state, but regretted the Monday night attack.
The Emir of Fika, Mohammad Abali IBN Idrissa
Mohamadu, urged the people to cooperate with
security agencies in the fight against terror.
No fewer than 30 people were reportedly killed
and three villages completely razed by gunmen
suspected to be Fulani militia in Zangan, Zandyen
and Azing villages in Kaura Local Government
Area of Kaduna State.
But the police have refused to comment on the
killings. Commissioner of Police Olufemi Adenaike
told reporters to wait till today.
The police boss said: “Please, wait till tomorrow.
I will address a news conference tomorrow to give
you details; otherwise, you will be writing a half
story. The information is coming in bits.”
A resident of the area, Bulus Gwaza, told
reporters on the telephone that the gunmen came
in a large number and shot indiscriminately.
He said: “Right now, we have buried over 30
bodies and we are still looking for more in the
three villages. Not a single house is standing now
as I am speaking to you. They killed one
Policeman and one soldier. In fact the soldiers
ran because of the guns the attackers had and
their large number. No one is in these villages,
except some of us looking for bodies to bury.
Please, tell government to come to our aid.”
Details of the attack were sketchy yesterday. It
was gathered that the villages attacked are
located on the boundary between Kaduna and
Plateau. The slain soldier was reportedly attached
to the Joint Task Force in Plateau.
The Centre for Development and Rights Advocacy
(CEDRA) urged the Federal Government to declare
a state of emergency in Kaduna state as the only
means of securing Southern Kaduna from such
attacks.
In a statement, its Director, John Danfulani, said:
“It is clear that Governor Yero of Kaduna State
and his security team are deficit of the knowledge
of effective administration and physical security
management.
The attack in Plateau State was on two
communities in villages bordering Plateau and
Kaduna states. No fewer than 32 people died.
The victims include two soldiers serving with the
Special Task Force on Jos crisis, code named,
“Operation Safe Haven”.
The two villages are Rajak and Atakar, parts of
which fall under Riyom local government of
Plateau State. The other part falls under Kaura
Local Government of Kaduna State.
The attack came less than 24 hours after a
security meeting organised by the Plateau State
Police to find a lasting peace in the state.
It also came less than a month after a similar
attack in Shonong village in Riyom local
government, which left about 40 people dead.
The gunmen, who invaded the two communities
at about 3am, were said to be in hundreds. They
were armed with sophisticated weapons.
A survivor, Joel Mana, said: “The gunmen started
shooting sporadically and setting homes on fire.
They shot any one who ran out of their houses to
escape. They have burnt more than 60 homes.”
He went on: “19 people were killed in Rajat village
while 11 people were killed in Atakar village by
the gunmen.”
Confirming the attack, the member representing
Riyom Constituency in the Plateau State House of
Assembly, Hon. Daniel Dem, said: “The police
confirmed to me that 32 members of my
constituency were killed by the gunmen. Initially,
we thought the casualty was 28, but it is actually
32 people. Among those killed were two soldiers
of the Special Task Force (STF).”
Dem described the incident as sad and inhuman.
“How can gunmen kill over 70 members of my
constituency within less than a month? This is a
slap on the security agencies”, he said.
The lawmaker said the victims had been given
mass burial in both villages and most of the
survivors had fled to parts of Kaduna State,
especially those whose houses were razed by the
attackers.
He urged the Federal Government to deploy more
troops in the area and begin aerial surveillance to
stop further attacks in the communities.
Plateau State Police confirmed the attack but
could not confirm the casualty figure.
The Special Task Force (STF) on Jos crisis, code-
named Operation Safe Haven, said to have lost
two men, also did not speak on the attack.

“Asari Dokubo Must Be Arrested Over 2015 War Threat ” – APC Tells SSS

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has
described as reckless, irresponsible and totally
condemnable the threat by Mujahedeen Asari-
Dokubo to levy war against Nigeria if President
Goodluck Jonathan is defeated even in a free and
fair election in 2015.
In a statement issued in Abuja yesterday by its
National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai
Mohammed, the party said despite the attacks by
oil militants in the Niger Delta and the ongoing
insurgency by Boko Haram in some parts of the
North, Nigeria had not witnessed a clearer and
louder call to war than Asari-Dokubo’s senseless
vituperation since the country’s civil war ended in
1970.
It said Nigerians were waiting to see what the
SSS, which recently detained for many hours the
APC’s Deputy National Secretary, Nasir El-Rufai
over his warning against election rigging in 2015,
would do now that an ally of President Jonathan
had threatened the very existence of Nigeria, by
saying he and his fellow militants would cripple
the economy of the country not only in the creeks
but also in Nigeria’s territorial waters.
‘’What on earth gave Asari-Dokubo the confidence
to issue threats against a whole nation? If he
does not care about elections and democracy,
how else could his hero, President Jonathan, have
come to power? Does he know the meaning of
anarchy? Does he think anyone, no matter how
big, is more important than his country or bigger
than its constitution?
‘’When he said President Jonathan ‘must
complete the mandatory constitutionally-
allowable two terms of eight years’ or the
militants will make Nigeria ungovernable, was he
aware that even the North that has become his
favourite whipping boy did not complete its own
eight years before his kinsman became president?
‘’It is not Asari-Dokubo’s fault. When we warned
against the handing over of the nation’s maritime
security to a company owned by a former militant
in 2012, many thought we were crying wolf where
none existed. But the threat by a former militant
to ensure that no vessel will be allowed to enter
the nation’s territorial waters unless President
Jonathan is re-elected has shown the dangers
inherent in such actions,’’ APC said.
It said Asari-Dokubo has overstretched his luck
by trying to dictate to political parties to field
only South-South candidates for the presidency in
2015, wondering what gave him the audacity to
make such a careless statement.
‘’We in the APC will never be cowed by the
senseless, emotional outburst of a man whose
sense of decency stretches the size of a coin. We
make bold to say that Nigeria will survive and
thrive, whether or not some people want it. We
reiterate the truism that election is the bedrock of
democracy, and that anointing of candidates – as
Asari-Dokubo would want Nigeria’s political
parties to do – is the very antithesis of
democracy,’’ the party said.
It said the SSS must act immediately or be
damned.’ “There is no better test of the fairness,
non-partisanship and professionalism of the SSS
than this Asari-Dokubo’s threat to levy war on
his own country. “
If Asari-Dokubo is not above the laws of the land,
he must be hauled before the SSS, just like the
service did to our deputy national secretary, to
explain his statement,’’ APC said.

“GTBank Is Using Workers Salaries ToPay Loans ” – Akure Workers ShutDown Bank

Industrial workers under the Joint Public Service
Negotiating Council (JNC) Ondo State on Tuesday
shut down business activities at the headquarters
branch of the Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) on
Alagbaka Road in Akure, the state capital.
The workers, chanting solidarity songs, were
protesting non-payment of their salaries. They
also alleged sabotage of their efforts by the
officers of the bank.
They said that GTB, without the knowledge of the
state government, had withheld their salaries with
the intention of using the money to defray its
loans.
Many of them carried placards bearing such
inscriptions as: “Enough of GTB Exploitation
Antics in Ondo State”; “Workers and People of
Ondo State Beware of GTB in Akure”’ “We are
tired of GTB behavior”; “GTB will ruin our life in
Ondo State”; and “We won’t take this no more for
GTB.”
One of the protesting workers told
SaharaReporters that their salaries were withheld
by the bank while various unknown alerts were
sent to them from the bank.
“As at now I have not received my January salary
which is not supposed to be so. We learnt that
GTB is planning to defraud us. They want to use
our money for loans. We won’t take this from
them.”
Speaking with journalists, the JNC chairman in
Ondo State, Comrade Oluwole Adeleye Samuel,
also alleged that the bank was trying to sabotage
the workers by using their salaries for defraying
loans.
“This bank without the authority of the
government of Ondo State been represented by
the Account General took Seven Hundred and Six
Million Naira (N706.000.000.00) meant for the
payment of workers salary to defray a loan.
“As a result of this our salary has not being paid.
We are tired of this barbaric act of the bank. They
are holding us for ransom and we won’t take it
from them. I can assure you that we won’t allow
any transaction to occur in this bank unless they
pay our people”.
All effort by SaharaReporters to obtain the
position of the Managing Director of the bank
proved abortive, as staff kept mute when asked
about his whereabouts.
But the Head of Operations of the bank, whose
chest badge read ‘Kehinde Oyeleke,’ but who
refused to mention his name to SaharaReporters,
angrily declined to comment on the issue.
“I am not aware of what is happening,” he
retorted. “The bank does not have issues with
the workers. What sort of questions are you
asking me, I just told you we don’t have issues
with the bank? What do you want me to say?”
The workers vowed to continue the protest and
threatened tio occupy the entire street leading to
the Alagbaka branch if no positive progress was
made, adding that they would not allow
customers into the bank.
Meanwhile the Automated Teller Machines
(ATMs) of the bank have been shut down with the
protesters threatening to deal with any workers of
the bank who dared to attend to customers.
As of the time of this story, officers of the Ondo
State Command of the Nigerian Police Force were
being drafted to the scene to curtail any violence
and prevent the protest from being hijacked.
